In order to practice social distancing to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the church cancelled worship and other activities the last two weeks in March.
Now our national and state leaders are asking us to continue the practice for the entire month of April.
Therefore, we will keep providing an online option through Zoom to connect in worship each Sunday morning, including Easter Sunday. You can join by computer or smart device, or by calling in on your regular phone with the access numbers given in the April Tower Notes, found in your email or regular mail. Remember, the church is not the building, it is the people. Let’s stay connected.
The church office is closed except for minimal operations. If a need arises, call Dr. Bob at home or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is very important to maintain your level of giving to the church, if at all possible, during this time when we are not able to be physically present at Bethany. Our bills must be paid. Please remain faithful in giving to the church. We now have two ways for you to give your tithes and offerings. First, you can send a check made out to Bethany Christian Church to the attention of the Financial Secretary at 7128 Allentown Rd., Fort Washington, MD 20744. Second, you can now donate to Bethany from the church website (http://bethanychristianmd.org/).
Just navigate to the Donate / Contact Us page and click the first link. A secure page supported by the tithe.ly website will open.
Select the Bank option to use a bank account or the Card option to use a debit or credit card. There is an option to pay the transaction fee (1% plus 10 cents for a bank account, 3% plus 10 cents for a debit/credit card). A memo line is provided (you may need to scroll down).
If you plan to donate online regularly, you can register to create a password and store your information. Your online donations will be included in the yearly summary you receive from the church. Please contact Scott Swett at email@example.com with any questions.

The Christian Church Capital Area camps and conferences are a great opportunity to grow in the love of God in a fun and dynamic way. Camp events for preschool through adults are offered. Each camp is designed to enable campers to deepen their spiritual lives, explore the Bible more fully and learn from mentors and friends in the faith in how to follow Jesus. The 2020 camp schedule has expanded and now offers Appalachian Hiking Camps as well as traditional camps for children, youth and families. You can get more information at http://www.cccadisciples.org/camp which has a link to CampDoc.com, a web-based Camper Application System that will allow you to register campers for CCCA Camps and Conferences, securely enter required medical history information and pay for fees online. It will also allow you to spread out payments. Active Bethany youth members (preschool through grade 12) are each eligible for one campership for which BCC pays half of the camp fee. A local congregational camper scholarship code is needed to receive the discount when you register. Please see Dr. Bob or Debbie Degges to receive this code. Please let Debbie know if you are using the camper scholarship code so we can keep track of how many scholarships and campers we are supporting.
We have started an electronic supplement to the weekly Bethany Prayer Journal. Anyone who would like to be e-mailed prayer requests as we receive them midweek, can give their e-mail address to Becky Minetto. When you notify the church office of prayer needs, please let them know if it is OK to put the request on the e-mail prayer chain as well as the Prayer Journal. Also let us know if the request is confidential. If you have any questions, contact Becky Minetto.
Bethany needs acolytes for each worship service. If you or your child (age 7 or older) can help, please sign up on the signup sheet on the Welcome Desk in the Lobby. Parents, please sign up for your children (do not let your children sign up for themselves) and consider being an acolyte parent for the week as well. Teenagers (13+) and adults can sign up as well. Acolytes do not need to be children. If you have any questions about acolyting, please speak with Sarah Swett.
a look at the library shelves in the Parlor. New materials have been added, including donated books and some DVD's for personal or group study. Simplified procedures are posted on the shelves. A favorite fiction series, "Dearest Dorothy" has already been enjoyed by the Bible study members, and is now available for borrowing, reading, and chuckling over. If you have some BCC library books at home and are ready to return them, please put them on the desk for Becky to re-shelve.
The weekly prayer list found in your bulletin keeps us mindful of those in need of prayer. However, the list continues to grow. Please help us keep the prayer list up-to-date by calling the church office to let us know when a name may be removed.
