Dear Bethany Family,

Thank you so much for the monetary gifts given to us for Christmas. We really appreciate your generosity and your support during this season and throughout the year.

Much Love,

Dr. Bob, Patricia, Kathy, David, Tricia, Tori, & Mr. Boone

Sunday, January 21, 2018, we will have a Wedding Shower for James Overby and Sarah Shirer after church. Please bring a casserole to share. Drinks, salad, and dessert will be provided. The Bride and Groom are registered at Target and Macy's.

We'll be watching the DVD series THE MISSION OF JESUS by Ray Vander Laan starting in January. His new insights, as he takes us to the Holy Land, have made him a favorite with many of our Bethany Family.

Come join us at 10:00 AM every Sunday for one of his very best!

Start the New Year off by joining us for our weekly share & prayer time every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM.

If you have a desire to pray for our nation, church, community, or for the needs of our church members, this is the place for you!

Your Annual Report for 2017 is due no later than January 28th. You may email it to the church office or leave a copy in the RED folder on the Secretary's desk.

The BYF is on break for the Summer.

Band of Brothers

The Band of Brothers, the Bethany Men's Group, currently has no scheduled meetings.

People Of the Covenant will resume on January 15 at 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall with the DVD series JOHN'S GOSPEL, hosted by Michael Card and filmed in areas of the Holy Land & Ephesus.

Please join us!

Christian Action continues to collect nonperishable canned food for the Oxon Hill Food Pantry.  There is a special need for the following: peanut butter & jelly, soup, cereal, evaporated milk, tuna, and other canned meats and pasta.  A collection box is in the church lobby.  Please check the expiration dates.

The Oxon Hill Food Pantry could use canned soups, paper products and toothpaste in addition to peanut butter & jelly, cereal, evaporated milk, canned meats, pasta and any other non-perishable food. The collection tub is in the foyer near the office.

Marie Anonsen's Sweater/Sweatshirt Sunday

Christian Action is once again sponsoring a Sweater/Sweatshirt Sunday. It will take place on January 21st. Please bring new or clean, gently-used sweaters or sweatshirts to donate on this day. Clothing will be given to the needy.

Epiphany will be celebrated on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Help us commemorate Epiphany by bringing a gift to the church wrapped in white paper or white tissue paper.

Pastor's Cabinet

The Pastor's Cabinet will take place on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at 9:30 AM. All former and newly elected chairpersons are encouraged to attend.

Elder's Meeting

The Elders will meet Saturday, January 20, at 9:30 AM.

Installation Service

The Installation of officers will take place on Sunday, January 28.

Annual Planning Event

The Annual Planning Event is scheduled for Saturday, February 3 at 9:00 AM.
This meeting is for all committees, so please make plans to attend. Your input is valued and needed.

We have started an electronic supplement to the weekly Bethany Prayer Journal. Anyone who would like to be e-mailed prayer requests as we receive them midweek, can give their e-mail address to Frank Shirer.  When you notify the church office of prayer needs, please let them know if it is OK to put the request on the e-mail prayer chain as well as the Prayer Journal.  Also let us know if the request is confidential. If you have any questions, contact Frank Shirer or Becky Minetto.

Save the Date: Sunday, November 5th for a Timothy & Student minister reunion. Jim Powell has agreed be our guest speaker.

There will be a potluck luncheon after the service.  Please bring a side-dish and dessert to share.

Anniversary Committee

The Weekly Prayer List

The weekly prayer list found in your bulletin keeps us mindful of those in need of prayer. However, the list continues to grow. Please help us keep the prayer list up-to-date by calling the church office to let us know when a name may be removed.

The Sick and Shut-in

Members who are sick and shut-in are also listed on the weekly prayer list. Please continue to pray for them. Consider mailing them a card or giving them a call from time-to-time to let them know you’re thinking about them.

You can dedicate the flowers for a given Sunday service.  The cost is $15 for a standard arrangement.  Larger arrangements or specific flowers (roses or carnations), is an additional charge.

Forms are now available on the Welcome desk for your use. Please complete the form and leave it in the “red folder” on the Secretary’s desk. Please do not submit your request, no more than thirty days prior to your dedication Sunday.

You can also call the office by Wednesday if you wish to dedicate flowers for a Sunday.

We have formed a "Green Team" to increase recycling at Bethany.  If you would like to be on the team, please contact Darlene DeMarr or Charlene McGinity.

Also, in our efforts of going 'green', Tower Notes are now available via e-mail.  If you would like to receive the Tower Notes via e-mail, please send an e-mail to: bethany7128@verizon.net (the Church e-mail).  Receiving the Tower Notes via e-mail will save the church both time and money.  Thank you!
