Interim Minister Search Update
The search committee is working closely with our regional minister, Rev. Jeff Stinehelfer, to find an interim minister for Bethany. We’ve had a few ups and downs along the way, but I wanted to share our latest news and strategy. The finance committee has indicated that we will need to hire a part-time Interim Minister. This means that we’ll all be playing an active role in caring for each other, something I think we do well already so a little more effort won’t be much of a stretch. And of course, we’ll be assisting the new Interim as much as we can.
Rev. Stinehelfer has been working diligently on our behalf since notified that the first candidate withdrew. Currently, the strategy is to have an Interim Minister in place at the start of January. There is interest in the position, but most candidates prefer to wait and start then. We plan to host visiting ministers for our November and December services. The worship committee and regional minister will be working together to make sure we are well covered by several ministers who will bring a variety of viewpoints, stories, and wisdom to our pulpit. It should be exciting! Simultaneously, the committee will be interviewing and choosing someone who will be a good fit for our Bethany family. In the meantime, keep the God of hope alive in your hearts. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you...” Joshua 1:9
